The King of Dramas 드라마의 제왕 | korean new drama

The King of Dramas 드라마의 제왕 | korean new drama

Super Junior Choi Siwon joins King of Dramas

Drama King of Dramas starring Kim Myung-min and Jung Ryeo-won has rounded out the main cast with Choi Siwon (Super Junior),

The drama from the PD behind Take Care of Us Captain and a writer from Korea’s Got Talent is a comedy about drama production, and of course has a drama-within-a-drama setup. Kim Myung-min plays the midas-touch producer who makes hits and cares only about money. Jung Ryeo-won is the idealistic writer who wants her dramas to say something. They already have a contentious past and hate each other, but have to put that aside to work on making a new hit show.
Enter troublemaker top star played by Choi Siwon, who’s been acknowledged for his good looks and even his acting skills, but is more famous for his assy behind-the-scenes personality. Apparently he’s so unable to compromise with anyone on anything that he turns every drama set into a maelstrom. Oh man, he sounds like a nightmare. I hope they go completely outlandish with the diva behavior; the more the merrier with a character like this. Wouldn’t it be funny if every character he ever played ended up dead as a petty revenge, but he always just believed it was because he was especially good at melodramatic death scenes? Now I wonder if that’s true of any actor in real life…
Oh Ji-eun (Smile Donghae) plays his co-star in the drama within the drama, and her character is also a top star, but not quite such a diva. She’s got a love story with Kim Myung-min, as she sticks by the drama production that goes through some rough patches. Their relationship is described as a cute push-pull, hot-and-cold playful one. So Kim Myung-min and Jung Ryeo-won as the producer and writer who hate each other and bicker all day, and then the two stars who make their lives hell while also competing for their affections? Sounds like fairly standard rom-com stuff, so I hope that their take on the world of showbiz will be a fresh and interesting one.
King of Dramas follows Faith and premieres in November on SBS.

NU'EST(뉴이스트) _ FACE|korea new song

NU’EST is an electro boy band, and their name stands for “new, establish, style, and tempo”, which to me either sounds like they’re going to give us extremely fast music or the slowest music imaginable, which would kind of be interesting. In this case, what they meant to say was that they would sound pretty standard next to today’s boy bands, with one exception: dubstep.

The Equator Man적도의남자 | korean new drama

The Equator Man적도의남자

Melodrama involving jealousy, love, desire and revenge between two best friends turned enemies

The writer of the 2008 drama Women of the Sun is back with her newest piece, The Equator Man. The plot sounds similar, the only difference is in this drama, the story will focus on two best friends ( Kim Seon Woo [played by Uhm Tae Woong] and Lee Jang Il [played by Lee Jun Hyuk]) who because of the circumstances have to be rivals.

The mellow actor Uhm Force -v- City Hunter's Prosecutor Lee Jun Hyuk playing enemies - I honestly want to root for Lee Jun Hyuk's character because I really love him playing as a good prosecutor in City Hunter. However, this time around he will be playing as an ambitious guy and ends up throw away their friendship due to greed and jealousy. So it looks like I will end up loving Uhm Force's character as even though he has a hard life (lived in an orphanage) but his strong desire to success will open ways for him to become a CEO.

Big Bang Bad Boy |kpop

Big Bang Bad Boy

Big Bang dropped another music video for their track “Bad Boy” from their new 5th album “Alive”. The song itself features a soothing mid-tempo R&B feel, mellow enough to showcase each of the members’ voices, yet upbeat enough for the boys to throw their swagger on, as seen in their M/V (Taeyang in particular throws in some slick dance moves). The music video starts with each of the members pleading after a girl to stay. This M/V was reportedly filmed in New York, plus the camera angles are especially unique. As soon as one person’s close-up shot is shown for their part, the next member swaggers into the frame. This features a concept much like their previous song “Love Song” and its music video which was taken in one shot. One netizen commented, “I’m liking the direction of their music, it’s becoming much more distinct than a “normal” K-pop song!” while another said, “This is so not mainstream k-pop – [this song is] cool and refreshing!” Viewers also get to see a few dance breaks near the middle and end

Korean singer Miss A new title " touch"

“Touch” has an electronic-like melody which gives off mysterious and unearthly vibes, definitely a new concept many are praising the girls for, and is, as one netizen mentioned, “musically interesting”. However, perhaps it’s due to the exposure to the norm of upbeat kpop songs, that many netizens also voiced: ” The song is the type where you dont like it at first, and then the more you listen to it, the bettter it gets..” The members of miss A pulled off their new and interesting look and gave the song a refreshing feel. Also, in the m/v, miss A performed an eerie and purposely choppy-like dance in which some netizens dubbed as the “mummy dance”. Watch it for yourself below!

BIG BANG (빅뱅) - BLUE |korea new song

BIG BANG (빅뱅) - BLUE

Big Bang is back and “Blue” (not literally, but it just might be the case with T.O.P’s hair…)! It’s been said that they will promote all 6 songs in their new album “Alive”, and unleashed the music video of “Blue” ahead of the album’s set release date (Feb 29) to increase the anticipation for the boys’ comeback. The song “Blue” begins with a mellow and sad-sounding piano riff that is joined by some gentle acoustic guitar strumming. The vibe this song gives off and the message of accepting loss is the perfect song for Big Bang to start with in their comeback ever since the hardships the group faced in 2011.
